Our Department has a long history of excellence in patient care, key contributions to anesthesia research, and outstanding resident training. This Department is unique as the DFW area is the largest metropolitan area in the country with only one residency training program. This environment allows our residents to benefit from a wide and rich variety of surgical cases that is difficult to match anywhere in the nation.
The academic program at UT Southwestern Medical Center Anesthesiology & Pain Management places an emphasis on every aspect of our student’s growth and development. We take advantage of the natural curiosity students possess by having our teachers present new information in creative ways and teach through exploratory experiences.
Our general curriculum includes a variety of challenging courses that meet or exceed state requirements. Suitable class sizes and exceptional, qualified teachers allow UT Southwestern Medical Center Anesthesiology & Pain Management to offer an intimate and inclusive educational environment, while also ensuring each student receives the individualized attention and support they need.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
It is truly a great honor to serve as your inaugural Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). I want to assure you that I will do my very best to hear ALL voices in the department and serve you in a just, respectful, and equitable manner.
This CORNER will serve to provide you information about DEI activities in the department, our institution, and also nationally. Important articles will also be posted on this site.
We will continue to update the site with new material as we get them and I welcome your ideas on how to make the site better.
Patrick N. Olomu, M.D.
