• From Dr. Gasanova:

Last week was marked by a significant increase of COVID ICU admissions at PHHS, requiring the closure of POD C and PACU B on the 3rdfloor to convert them back into a COVID ICU and moving an additional 5th CRNA to the pool of CRNAs who take care of these patients. Due to closure of the pod C ORs, L&D ORs 1-3 are again utilized for surgical cases.
In addition, I would like to recognize the call team who worked on Friday including Dr. Nasir, Dr. DuChamp, and the residents, Gabe Garcia and Festus Ohangarcia, the CRNAs Chinwe Ononogbu, Aleshia Edwards and two Anesthesia techs.
It was extremely busy with three traumas back-to-back and a difficult airway case in the ED. The crisis was appropriately managed with triaging labs, getting timely intravenous access, having blood products available and the help of an additional provider Robert Beck from OB.

The entire team did an incredible job. Their dedication, commitment, and contribution during this extremely challenging night should be commended.
