    The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management was officially formed in 1955 under the direction of Dr. Jenkins. Currently under the direction of Dr. Charles Whitten, the Department has certainly changed over the past six decades.   • The Dennis F. Landers M.D., Ph.D. Teaching Award

    The Dennis F. Landers M.D., Ph.D. Teaching Award is presented on behalf of the residents in recognition of the faculty member who has four or less years of experience in practice with UT Southwestern, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management and who they believe has consistently demonstrated a true enthusiasm for clinical teaching both in and out of the operating room. The recipient will receive a $3,000 addition to their education fund. Presented by the residents in recognition of inspired teaching, wise counsel and dedication to the house staff.

  • Circle of Life Award

    Parkland Hospital's Circle of Life Award Program identifies individuals that exemplify Compassion, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence and Stewardship while doing their everyday job. The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management is extremely proud to have so many of our faculty and residents selected with this special honor at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The recipients of this award have been selected by their peers because they represented what the Circle of Life program is all about. Take a moment to thank each of them when you see them for setting the standards of care for our patients at such a high level.
